How we work

Commitment to safety

Complete every lift safely, and make sure everyone involved goes home at the end of the day.

Our commitment

Safety is how we measure the company

Health and safety is the measure we hold ourselves to, which means it is not delegated to a binder or to one person on staff. Everyone from ownership down carries responsibility for it, every day, on every job.

Because our company is made up of crane operators, we understand firsthand what proper planning, communication and equipment selection are worth. Every lift is different, and we believe every job deserves to be properly assessed before the hook ever goes in the air.

We work at continual improvement rather than treating safety as a standard that has already been met. Incidents are prevented in the planning, in the equipment selection and in the conversation on site, so that is where we put the effort. The benchmark we work toward is zero.

From the initial site assessment and lift planning through rigging, execution and equipment removal, the focus is the same: do the work safely, efficiently and properly. We plan it, communicate it and execute it, and we do not compromise on it to make a schedule.

Every lift, every time

Safety first, on every job

  • Qualified and experienced operators

Every machine goes out with an operator who is trained on it and understands the work it is going to.

  • Certified and trained personnel

Operators and riggers hold the certifications their role requires, and training is kept current rather than filed away.

  • Professional lift planning

Load, radius, configuration, ground bearing and clearances are worked out on paper before the crane is dispatched.

  • Thorough site assessments

We look at access, set-up area, ground conditions, overhead hazards and the route in before committing to a machine.

  • Proper rigging and load handling

Centre of gravity, sling angles and attachment points are established in advance, with the right hardware on site.

  • Regular inspections and maintenance

Equipment is inspected and maintained on schedule, and a machine that is not right does not go to work.

  • Compliance with applicable regulations

We work to the requirements that govern our work in Ontario and to recognized industry practice.

  • Pre-lift planning and communication

Everyone on the pick knows the sequence, the signals and the stop conditions before the hook goes in the air.

How a lift runs

Before, during and after

01

Before

Site assessment, access review, ground conditions, load chart analysis at the working radius, clearances to hydro and structures, and a drawn lift plan.

02

During

Pre-lift briefing with everyone involved, agreed signals, rigging checked at the hook, and clear stop conditions that anyone on the crew can call.

03

After

Controlled teardown and removal, equipment inspected on return, and anything learned on the job carried into how we plan the next one.

Bring us in before the crane is booked

The earlier we see the site, the more of the lift we can solve on paper instead of on the day.
